In a move to bolster digital transformation within the education sector, Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has unveiled ‘Talib,’ an advanced AI-powered chatbot designed to provide immediate and intelligent responses to queries from students, parents, and the general public in both Arabic and English.
Undersecretary HE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi emphasised the importance of this initiative, noting that the swift evolution of digital transformation in education necessitates proactive measures to stay ahead. He highlighted that the State of Qatar is committed to adapting to these changes to fully benefit from innovative technological advancements.
Dr. Al Nuaimi also pointed out the significant role of AI in streamlining educational processes, making it easier for educators, students, and the wider community to access necessary information and support. He reaffirmed MoEHE’s dedication to keeping pace with AI advancements and mentioned that the ministry is currently engaged in multiple projects and programs aimed at leveraging AI technologies.
The newly introduced smart assistant, Talib, boasts a 99% accuracy rate in responding to inquiries, thereby saving time and effort while ensuring continuous and optimised communication. Should Talib be unable to provide an answer, the inquiry will be forwarded to the relevant department within the ministry for further assistance.
Dr. Mona Salem Al Fadhli, Director of the Information Systems Department at MoEHE, reiterated the department’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies. She mentioned that the department is focusing on enhancing its digital systems by incorporating AI, business intelligence, and virtual reality technologies in alignment with Qatar’s Digital Transformation Strategy 2030.
Dr. Al Fadhli also emphasised that the launch of Talib marks the beginning of a new era for AI-powered systems and services within the ministry. She revealed that the IT department is currently exploring various AI solutions, which are expected to be introduced soon.
The introduction of Talib is a significant step towards modernising Qatar’s educational landscape, ensuring that students, parents, and the public receive efficient and accurate support, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to digital innovation and excellence.
