Amity Education Group Expands its Educational Footprint in Bengaluru with the Launch of Two Prestigious Institutions

17 January 2024

In a strategic move to further its commitment to delivering high-quality education, Amity Education Group has unveiled plans to establish two educational institutions in Devanahalli, near the Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport. The premier institution, Harrow International School Bengaluru, marks Amity’s debut in the city and brings the rich legacy of the renowned Harrow School, UK, to India.

Harrow International School Bengaluru, a collaboration between Amity and Harrow School, UK, is set to introduce a 450-year-old tradition of excellence to India. Recognised as the alma mater of illustrious personalities such as Jawahar Lal Nehru, Winston Churchill, Lord Byron, and multiple Nobel Laureates, Harrow School emphasizes values of Courage, Honour, Humility, and Fellowship, shaping students into resilient leaders.

Amity’s Chancellor, Dr. Aseem Chauhan, expressed enthusiasm about the positive response received in the first year, with 40% of students hailing from foreign nations. The move to establish the school in Bengaluru, a city already brimming with international residential and boarding schools, is a significant step for the education group.

Apart from the Harrow International School, Amity has also inaugurated Amity University Bengaluru, making its mark in India’s second most student-friendly city, as per QS Rankings 2023. Dr. Chauhan explained the strategic choice, citing Bengaluru’s economic resurgence post-pandemic and its reputation as the Silicon Valley of India, providing opportunities for educational institutions to collaborate with multinational corporations and indigenous brands.

Karnataka’s contribution of 42% to India’s IT exports has driven Amity to focus on futuristic engineering programs and specialisations in areas such as IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cyber Security. The education group’s global recognition for producing highly employable graduates adds to its appeal as an educational destination.

In the context of Bengaluru’s vibrant entrepreneurial landscape, Amity aims to support innovation through its Amity Innovation Incubator. Having successfully incubated 750+ start-ups and created over 10,000 jobs nationally, the incubator now extends its reach to Bengaluru, offering a network of mentors and resources to transform start-ups into profitable ventures.

Both Amity University Bengaluru and Harrow International School Bengaluru boast superior infrastructure and facilities, providing students with opportunities beyond traditional classroom learning. The 60-acre campus of Amity University houses research centres for bio-design, IT, and robotics. Additionally, the institutions benefit from Amity’s partnerships with 164 global universities, including prestigious names like Harvard University and Columbia University in the US, and prominent universities in the UK, Australia, and Singapore.

Dr. D. Subhakar, Vice Chancellor of Amity University Bengaluru, expressed optimism about the group’s venture into the city, citing the immense potential among Bengaluru’s students. With students actively participating in hackathons and summits, Dr. Subhakar emphasised the confidence and skills they are developing through enhanced opportunities.

As Amity Education Group expands its horizons in Bengaluru, the institutions aim to contribute significantly to the educational landscape, fostering future leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in the dynamic city.
